At Holistic Veterinary Care of Central Florida, we believe every animal deserves compassionate, individualized care. While many people know us for helping dogs, cats, and horses, we are also proud to provide holistic supportive care for a variety of avian and exotic species.
We commonly see:
- Birds
- Rabbits
- Ferrets
- Guinea pigs
- Farm animals
- Pocket pets
- Other exotic companions
Every species has unique needs, and our goal is to support your pet’s health by working with the body’s natural ability to heal.
Our Holistic Approach
We offer many of the same integrative therapies for avian and exotic patients that we provide for our canine, feline, and equine patients, including:
- Veterinary Acupuncture
- Veterinary Chiropractic Care
- Chinese Herbal Medicine
- Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM)
- Supplements when appropriate
These therapies can often help improve comfort, mobility, quality of life, recovery from illness or injury, and support many chronic conditions.
Because each species is unique, every treatment plan is carefully customized to your pet’s size, anatomy, condition, and overall health.
Working Together With Your Primary Veterinarian
Our role is to complement, not replace, your primary veterinarian.
Avian and exotic animals have specialized medical and surgical needs that require a veterinarian with advanced training in those species. We strongly recommend that all birds, rabbits, ferrets, and other exotic pets maintain an established relationship with an avian or exotic primary care veterinarian for routine wellness care, diagnostics, emergency care, surgery, and species-specific medical management.
Our practice focuses on providing supportive, integrative therapies that work alongside your pet’s primary medical care. We frequently collaborate with your primary veterinarian to help provide the most comprehensive treatment plan possible.
When Holistic Care Can Help
Many avian and exotic patients benefit from holistic therapies as part of their overall care, including pets experiencing:
- Arthritis and mobility concerns
- Neurological conditions
- Recovery after injury or surgery
- Chronic pain
- Age-related changes
- Digestive concerns
- Stress and anxiety
- Chronic inflammatory conditions
- Supportive care during long-term medical treatment
Every patient is unique, and we will work with you to determine whether holistic therapies may be beneficial for your companion.
We Look Forward to Meeting Your Unique Companion
Whether you share your home with a parrot, rabbit, ferret, goat, pig, chicken, alpaca, or another special companion, we would be honored to be part of their healthcare team.
If you’re wondering whether your pet is a candidate for acupuncture, chiropractic care, Chinese herbs, or another holistic therapy, give us a call. We’d be happy to discuss your pet’s needs and help determine whether our services are the right fit.
